(an unfortunate housing incident occurred this summer, raising my rent from $615 to $830 for the exact.same.room. well, we actually just moved next door to ourselves because they were selling our townhouse, but we couldn't find anything nearly as comparable for that kind of money. i love my room/house/location SO much, i decided i could pay $2500 extra over a year to keep it, rather than move someplace i'd hate. my room is the only thing that i really love about where i am right now, so, until i have more freedom to change some aspects of my life, i was begrudgingly ok with this course of action. i suspect my roommate and i will try and find something cheaper but just as nice when our lease is up.)
Also, as you can see, having my cc pd off will free up a substantial amount of cash. what to do...what to do?
Some ideas:
fund 401k to max (15K)
housing fund (60K?)
travel around/live in Europe for 6 mo. fund (12K?)
Roth IRA, funded to max (4K/yr)
new car fund (not new new, but this decade new) (6.5K)
shopping spree (!) -- but i'll limit myself to a couple of months of fun, don't worry. hey, i have to reward myself for 10 months of miserliness! i seriously have become a money nun. when i have a goal, i go full force. ah, now i'm dreaming: i really need new work clothes. a professional haircut would be nice...ooh, hiking gear! (2K)
wedding fund (ok, now i'm losing it) (12K)
so, great, i um, really have my work cut out for me. Dream big or go home.
